1999年11月開催 個展「光と影II-秋宴-」より展示風景
個展「宴」(１９９６・１１月開催)は、 “四神(五行)” の名をいただいた作品です。前回の個展から4年。スタイルを変えて “極彩色” の作品です。 “形” から “色彩” へと、興味が移ってきました。モチーフは『紅葉』。秋に様々な “色彩美” を見せてくれる紅葉。それを四方位に合わせ作品化しました。制作に際し初めて「金箔」を用いました。それは、 “順光に輝く紅葉色” “逆光の透けた紅葉色” の表現のためです。そして、 “四神” の名をいただくだけでなくモチーフにもしました。『青龍』には龍、『朱雀』には、鳳凰と龍 『白虎』には虎、そして『玄武』には亀を描きました。さて “四神” は何処にいるのか。鑑賞者の心理がどう働くのか。何を映すのか。私は「ロールシャッハ・テスト」を考えました。作品は天地4段、左右3~8列。“ユニット絵画”の完成です。

Exhibition" PARTY" (Nov 1996)
I put the names of Four Gods (The Five Elements) on my works of an exhibition "Party".Four years after the former exhibition, I wanted to change the tone of colors, since my interest shifted from "shapes" to "colors". I chose autumnal leaves for motifs which show various colors of beauty according to the change of season. To express the gorgeousness of the autumn colors, I tried to use the gold leaf for the first time. It is a good material to show the dazzling lights reflecting on the leaves or the backlights seen through the leaves. I hid four gods in my works. Hinted by "Rorschach test", I put the dragon in Seiryu, the phoenix and the dragon in Suzaku, the tiger in Byakko, the tortoise in Genbu to let the audiences try to find out them. Placed in all direction of the gallery, and separated in 3 to 32 units, the audiences could fell the atmosphere of the season.
